excusez mon français!
'Excuse my French' is a quirky collection of wines from the beautiful Languedoc region in France's deep South. Here the vines and olive trees swell under soft blue skies. Afternoon breezes sweep up intoxicating scents of wild lavender, and the quaint villages that dot the mediterranean coast reveal humble origins. This is the real France...
with love, from france
The ‘Excuse my French’ wines are made from vineyards scattered along the stunning coastline between Carcassonne and Montpellier. We hand-pick our grapes from small plots of old vines at varying altitudes in some of the region’s finest appellations: Minervois, Corbieres, Limoux, Béziers and Faugères. Rounded stones, sandstone, marls, limestone scree and schist compose the sun-baked and windswept terraces which give our wines their strong varietal character and easy-drinking flavours. And, our Frenchies are labelled in a refreshing and accessible package that is simply très magnifique!
so frenchy, so chic
Our wines...a Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and a Grenache Syrah Mourvèdre blend, are made by Pauline Mateo in the town of Monze just south west of Carcassonne. Born in 1987, Pauline originates from the town of Limoux, and showed a deep interest in viticulture and winemaking from her teenage years. She studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the renowned University of Toulouse, followed by Wine Science at the University of Montpellier. During this time, Pauline was invited to a number of Languedoc wineries to develop her craft and reputation as one of the region's most exciting young winemakers. In 2012, these experiences culminated in Pauline being awarded one of France's most prestigious winemaking accolades, the 'National Winemaker Diploma. Pauline has worked vintages abroad as far away as Chile and Spain, but her heart lies in Languedoc.
